SAPsurv Survey Suite

SAPSurv is a powerful portable bilingual (English / Afrikaans) Survey software program written for the requirements of the South African Police Service by M.Software. SAPSurv is used for the rapid recording of all field observations and rapid immediate field survey computation of point coordinates at a crime or accident scene.

SAPSurv is simple enough to be used and understood by non-survey trained personnel of the South African Police Services.

How does SAPsurv work?

YXZ Coordinates

All directions, vertical angles, distances and corrections used for the performance of all Survey computations, are simultaneously recorded for reference purposes. The calculation of the YXZ coordinate of the observed point is automatic. All corrections are applied automatically and based on the South African Survey System e.g. earth curvature, sea level, scale enlargement, orientation direction. All orientating methods for the theodolite are weighted by distance.

Pre downloaded look-up table

SAPSurv makes use of a pre-downloaded lookup table of objects observed or exhibits identified. The table is composed of a Point Code, a Point Name in both English and Afrikaans, and a flag indicating whether the point must be strung together with other points, using the same code when data is transferred to CAD plotting software.

Interfacing

Interfacing of SAPSurv to most desktop systems is extremely easy and the transfer of files is rapid. Facilities exist to either copy files in the Psion proprietary format, or export files in a variety of formats to suit the destination PC software format.
