Features - PhotoModeler
M.Software is the Southern Africa Distributor for all PhotoModeler products.
New versions of PhotoModeler and PhotoModeler Scanner were released on 28 October 2010 and have some amazing new features! Versions will now be followed by the year of release and major and minor release numbers following the year. e.g first release this year 2011.0.0
Major new Features
SmartMatch - automation for non-targeted images
- SmartMatch searches unorientated photographs in a project and automatically generates 3D points, and orientates the photographs.
- If you are familiar with PhotoModeler's coded targets and automated coded targets, SmartMatch automatically creates your targets and orientates your photographs at an amazing speed!
- SmartMatch is included in PhotoModeler Scanner.
Look at this YouTube video link to best unserstand how SmartMatch works.
Geographic coordinate systems now intergrated
- 2D or 3D coordinates from traditional survey, GPS or Google Earth has conversion capabilities in PhotoModeler
- Ortho-photos can be created as GeoTIFFs
- A World file with geo info can be exported for projects and ortho-photos.
Project Review and Status pane
- The Project Review Pane gives information about a project's quality and status and updates in real-time. Important aspects of the project are reviewed and overall status is displayed i=on the status bar or the Project Review Pane.
- In the Project Review Pane you can study each item that needs improvement.
- The type of project can be set so that review thresholds are different depending on the type of project you are doing.
External Geometry Explorer (EGE) view pane
This new view pane consolidates the scale/rotate/translate coordinate system setup with control points, and multi-point affine. New capabilities are mulitple scales, check distances, check points and multi-point affine.
The EGE gives the user
- control over which co-ordinate system is active
- checks for conflicting coordinate definition types
- highlights the groups or individual of objects used for the coordinate definition in photos, tables and 3D viewers
- provides control over the project's display units.
New camera calibration method
- A new multi-sheet calibration method has been added which allows you to print a series of coded target sheets that can be placed in any configuration (e.g. larger area, off plane, etc). The calibration that results can be more reliable and can more closely resemble your typical scene.
- The option to use the single sheet calibration is still available.
On-Photo Dimensions
- Dimentions can be added to photos for permanent display and output
- Offset any suitable distance from points and leader lines will connect dimensions automatically to the feature.
- Dimensions are tied to underlying features so they update when features change or move
- Add text notes to photos
- A new Dimentions table displays all dimensions in a project and allows editing
Exceptional Improved Speed
Computing speed has been improved in all the following areas:
- Global optimization / processing
-
- Automarking (dots and coded targets)
- Camera calibration
- Imaging functions (such as opening photos and painting marks)
- Texture creation
- Scanner / Dense Surface Model creation
- Scanner / Meshing and clean up functions
There is additional speed for those with Mulit-core processors. Shee the bar chatrs in the right hand column for compassisons. Results are from six typical projects run on PhotoModeler 6.3 version and in the new PhotoModeler 2011 version
